Members of the Kichwa community of Mondayacu participate in a watershed forum for the “Napo Watershed Seminar,” organized by the ERI in January 2006 as part of a diagonstic analysis of watershed management issues from the community perspective. Watershed forums were carried out at nine strategic community centers that influence and represent each of the major tributaries of the Napo watershed. Here, the Mondayacu community draws a map of their territory in relation to rivers, existing roads, landmarks, and infrastructure as a way to help visualize their current land and water use, identify and discuss watershed issues, and address future growth and development from their perspective.
